JANE GILGUN was born in Wakefield, Rhode Island, USA, not far from Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, which are the settings of several of her poems. For more than twenty years, she has lived in Minnesota, where she is a professor at the School of Social Work, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, USA. Except for the poems of childhood, she wrote the poems in the order in which they appear in this collection.
