Abby Klein was born in Los Angeles, California. She received her teaching credentials at Dartmouth College, where she majored in psychology and education, and her master's degree in reading and language development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has been a kindergarten and first-grade teacher there for more than fifteen years in the Los Angeles area. She is a teacher-leader in her district and has presented numerous staff development workshops for the district and her school on reading, writing, and literacy. She writes the Ready, Freddy! series.
