Sarah Banet-Weiseris Associate Professor of Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California. She is the author of The Most Beautiful Girl in the World: Beauty Pageants and National Identity, and Kids Rule! Nickelodeon and Consumer Citizenship. She is the co-editor of a forthcoming book on cable television, Cable Visions: Television Beyond Broadcasting, and has published articles in Critical Studies and Media Communication, Feminist Theory, and American Quarterly, among others. She teaches and researches in the areas of consumer culture, gender and media, children and media, race and representation, and national identity.
