As a fifth and sixth grade teacher, Kevin Kremer especially enjoyed writing Halloween stories with his students. After his first book was published in 1995, he started thinking about writing a Halloween chapter book. Unfortunately, he had difficulty coming up with a plot to his liking. Last year he began contributing to the Facebook page called "Growing up in Mandan," where people reminisce about growing up in an incredible town in North Dakota. When some of the contributors began writing about the long, scary, dark tunnel that went under the railroad tracks in Mandan, it helped trigger many ideas that he needed to complete the outline for his Halloween book.
