Richard W. Arnold began his career mapping soils in Iowa for Soil Conservation Service in 1950. He has taught at University Guelph, Ontario (1963-1966), and Cornell University (1966-1980). He returned to USDA -NRCS (Washington DC) from 1980-2000 as Director of Soil Survey. He is now retired. Ju�n-Jos� Ib��ez has been the Spanish representative in the Plenary Advisory Committee del European Soil Bureau, Joint Research Centre (1992-2007) and was a member of its Steering Committee (2001-2003). Since 2008 he has taught pedology in the University of Burgos. Pavel Krasilnikov has been a professor at the Faculty of Sciences of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) since 2001. He is vice-chair of the Soil Classification Commission (1.4) of the International Union of Soil Science for the period 2010-2014.He is presently working in Teagasc, Johnstown Castle, Wexford, Ireland. He was also a member of the Management Committee and the Core Group of the European Topic Centre on Soils (European Environmental Agency) in 1996. Since 2008 also teaches pedology in the University of Burgos. Pavel Krasilnikov received his diploma in soil science in 1992 and started working as a pedologist, then as a research scientist, and then as a head of the laboratory of Soil Ecology and Soil Geography of the Institute of Biology of the Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences. Presented his PhD work in 1997. Also he was teaching pedology in Petrozavodsk State University in 1994-2002. From 2001 he is a full professor at the Faculty of Sciences of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Elected vice-chair of the Soil Classification Commission (1.4) of the International Union of Soil Science for the period 2010-2014.
