Rena Cook was a high school drama teacher for 16 years, during which time her students won the Oklahoma state one act play festival three years in a row. She was also named "Teacher of the Year" for Jenks Public Schools. Currently Head of Voice in the School of Drama at the University of Oklahoma, Rena has a Masters Degree in Voice from the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama in London and an MFA in Directing from OU. Rena is a frequent voice workshop presenter for state Thespian conferences in Colorado, Texas, and Georgia, as well as the Educational Theatre Associations' National Sponsors' Conference. A professional voice and dialect coach, Rena has worked on over 100 productions. Through her corporate voice training business, Vocal Authority, she has worked with politicians, attorneys, judges, CEOs, managers and salesmen. Rena also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Voice and Speech Review, 2009, the only peer reviewed serialized monograph in the voice training profession. In addition she has published more than 20 articles in the area of voice, acting, directing and teaching in such journals as Dramatics Magazine, Teaching Theatre, Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, The Voice and Speech Review and Theatre Journal. Her international reputation continues to grow as she was recently invited to teach at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales and at the Central School in London.
