Bob Tumba was born on June 13th, 1948 in Kipushi, In the South ofKatanga. His father worked at the mining Union of High Katanga, currently Gecamines (General of the careers And The mines). Bob is thus marked, since his childhood, by the industrial world.In 1971, he earned a bachelors degree in economics, with the mention of distinction, at the University of Lovanium of Kinshasa. He was retained there as an assistant professor, but without awaiting the end of the academic year, he took a leave of teaching to join an iron and steel industry incipient in Congo. Indeed, German and Italian promoters had just built steel-works in the hinterland of Kinshasa.In 1980, he was the managing director of this young industrial complex. it is then that the government nationalizes the production unit.
