Mary Celeste Kearney is Associate Professor of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas at Austin. She is author of Girls Make Media (2006), and editor of the Gender and Media Reader (forthcoming 2011). Her essays on girls' media culture have appeared in Camera Obscura, Cultural Studies, Feminist Media Studies, And The Journal for Children and Media. Her next monograph, Making Their Debut: Teenage Girls And The Teen-Girl Entertainment Market, 1938-1966, Is in progress. She is also founding director of Cinemakids, a program for inspiring youth media producers, and manages the Girls Make Media website , a resource for girls' media production.
