Doctor Anderson has coached high school, collegiate and elite distancerunners since 1986. He has a bachelors degree in Health Science; a bachelorsdegree in Physical Education; a masters degree in Sport Psychology and both amasters degree and doctorate in Sport Sociology. This formal education,combined with reading the academic literature on running for 25 years, hashelped him masterfully synthesize research on the physical, psychological andsocial aspects of distance running. The author, Tom Jewett, currently lives in Spirit Lake Iowa. He has spent 13 years in Hong Kong and China. There he initially worked for World Relief. He later taught English and business to university students in Guangzhou China and taught English to secondary students in government-run schools in Hong Kong. Tom has benefited from worshiping and working with Christians of varied nationalities and denominations.
