Bonnie Prudden was instrumental in the formation of the President's Council on Youth Fitness during the Eisenhower adminsitration. By the time she decided to apply her considerable energy toward improving fitness training for her own and the rest of the nation's children, she had already proven herself as a Broadway dancer, first woman to receive the National Ski Patrol badge and a world-class rock climber. Later, she opened the Institute for Physical Fitness, the first of its kind in the United States and began a lifetime of work and research on fitness for Americans of all ages.Her many accomplishments include writing the first fitness column for SPORTS ILLUSTRATED and hosting network television's first exerc ise spots, originally on Arlene Francis' "The Home Show" and later on Dave Garroway's Today" show.
