The smooth transition between fiction and essay marked Julieta Campos' relation with the art of writing, from the very beginning; relation characterized by a worrying swing between reason and passion. In her own words: "Writing would be passing between the loneliness of the esthetic experience and the solidarity of the ethic experience." This ambivalence lives in Campos' essays and narrative, breaking the frontiers of gender, while she remains faithful to her conviction that literature is only obligued with the freedom of imagination and with the word. For her, the essence of writing is dissidence.
