Buyback Packaging Guidelines

In order to ensure the safe arrival of your buyback, we've come up with a few common sense packaging recommendations.
These suggesstions are based on the methods our customers have successfully used to pack their books.
A little common sense goes a long way!
  • Pack your textbooks tightly in a heavy duty shipping carton. You can purchase such containers at a local U-Haul outlet or other businesses that sell shipping or moving supplies (ask the clerk for help). Or, just use a sturdy container that you might have handy.
  • Don't use a box that's too big. There's no reason to send a single book in a giant box with a lot of packaging material. In fact, larger boxes are more often damaged than smaller ones. A box that's 2 feet by 3 feet usually doesn't work too well when you're only sending in a paperback novel.
  • If you need to ship an authorized return, you may reuse the package your textbook was originally delivered in provided that the container is a cardboard package in good, sturdy condition and not an envelope. If your carton was wet or damaged when received, we recommend you find a new carton to use since the integrity of the container is compromised. Envelopes should never be reused when shipping textbooks.
  • Lay books flat in the container with the spine of the book facing outward. Do not stand books upright since that may cause damage during transit.
  • You MUST include all applicable CDs, disks, booklets and other text supplements with your shipment to ensure proper credit.
  • Double check your shipment if you're sending in multiple books. It sounds simple, but make sure you're actually sending in all the books listed on your buyback or return. We can't pay you for books we don't receive.
  • Don't use newspaper as packing material. Shipments received with newspaper packing material are often damaged. This results in an adjustment to the compensation you will receive. Instead, use bubble wrap or styrofoam. Places such as U-Haul or your local Post Office have good packing material available.
  • If you can pick up your carton and feel the books shift inside then you need to use more packing material. Books that move in the carton are frequently damaged in transit.
  • Attach your shipping label (or the one we provided, if applicable) on top of your package.
  • Seal your box with heavy duty shipping tape. We suggest sealing all seams, plus, applying two strips around the perimeter of the container for extra support. DO NOT use masking or scotch tape.
  • REMEMBER--IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PACK YOUR BOOKS IN A DURABLE CONTAINER WITH AMPLE PACKING MATERIAL AND SEAL THOROUGHLY WITH SHIPPING TAPE!
  • Any buybacks received that can't be sold due to poor condition, damage during transit, or differences in the information provided for the quote will be destroyed.
  • All returns must be received in the condition they were sold or the refund amount will be adjusted.
